Designer’s Portfolio

Probably the greatest pleasure in my life is design – the art of pure creativity. I relish a challenge, I thrive on tricky problems and solving them in a way that combines elegant engineering, pleasing aesthetics and efficient use of materials – it’s something I really cherish. So I am expanding that side of the business. Whereas most of my work has been on our production boats, we’ve had some nice commissions – the sea-going houseboat was one I particularly enjoyed as it took me right out of my comfortable ‘spirit of tradition’ zone.

This year I have drawn up eight new boats, some to an advanced stage. I draw with a sharp pencil and wouldn’t have it any other way. Of course by the time I’ve completed scale drawings and maybe built a half model, it’s time to get them scanned and computerised.

In addition to our proposed new boats I’d like to concentrate on developing your own ideas – no matter what sort of boat you envisage. My fees are modest and you’ll get a professional’s idea of what’s workable. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Here’s an outline of the new boats – all of which can be production ready quite quickly. All of them trailerable, some like Selena only by a 3.5-tonne rated 4 x 4.
